Bangkok: “Dr. Air” has chosen not to request bail as she seeks to calm down amidst serious charges, while continuing to deny allegations of involvement in drug-related activities. Officers are set to bring Dr. Air to the Criminal Court for detention today.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nitisak Meekhud, the lawyer representing Dr. Air, stated after a visitation that Dr. Air provided numerous statements during interrogation, denying charges of jointly distributing Category 2 psychotropic substances without permission and colluding in serious drug crimes. Although Dr. Air admitted to ordering some medications, she only partially acknowledged knowledge of drugs found in a police flat room, which she identified as hers, but refrained from providing detailed disclosures. Notably, she has opted not to apply for bail at both the investigator level and in court. The authorities will proceed with Dr. Air’s detention at the Criminal Court today.
When questioned about whether Dr. Air ordered medication from the FDA, her lawyer confirmed that she did, leveraging her authority as a doctor to order drugs for patients. The police are still in the process of interviewing additional individuals to finalize their investigation before contemplating charges. The investigation is also delving into issues concerning the impersonation of deceased individuals’ names, although specific details remain undisclosed. Dr. Air denies involvement in distributing drugs to trafficking networks, and at present, there is no mention of other implicated individuals.
Today, while acknowledging the charges, Dr. Air expressed her desire to refrain from seeking bail, citing a need to calm down and contemplate her future actions. She has yet to discuss strategies for contesting the charges, preferring to await further developments. During the interrogation, Dr. Air reportedly did not exhibit emotional distress, though reactions such as shock or fear were noted as understandable. No special messages were left by Dr. Air, aside from personal matters concerning her child.
Authorities are scheduled to conduct searches at 11 additional locations today, though Dr. Air has not been informed of these developments yet. Her lawyer mentioned that worries are natural due to the uncertainty of what the searches might uncover. As a legal representative, Mr. Meekhud emphasized his role in providing full rights to his client, underscoring that the court will ultimately determine the case’s outcome.
