Pattaya: A jealous South Korean man locked his Thai ex-girlfriend in a room for nearly 24 hours and beat her badly after failing to reconcile with her and finding out that she was seeing a Chinese man. Pattaya City Police led forces to surround a room of a nail salon in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri Province to help Ms. Ann (assumed name), 28 years old, the owner of the shop, after receiving a report that her 27-year-old South Korean boyfriend had physically assaulted her, threatened her with a gun, and locked her in the room for almost 24 hours. However, when the police arrived, the perpetrator was aware of the situation and climbed up to the second-floor balcony, jumped down, and ran away into the darkness. The police pursued him carefully because he was carrying a gun, but were eventually cornered and arrested by the police about 500 meters away from the scene. He was taken in a police car and taken to the police station for questioning. The police also seized evidence, a Sig Sauer
P320 pistol with a full magazine of 15 rounds.
According to Thai News Agency, while Ms. Ann was exhausted, had bruises all over her body and was in constant fear, she said that the perpetrator, her ex-boyfriend from South Korea, had locked her in the room since the previous night, confiscated her mobile phone and threatened her with a gun. During that time, she tried to negotiate with her ex-boyfriend to return her phone. In the evening, he agreed to return it. She immediately sent a message to her friends asking for help. The reason was jealousy because after they broke up, she had been dating a Chinese man, but her ex-boyfriend still tried to reconcile with her and refused to let it go easily, so he assaulted her and locked her up.
Police initially charged the South Korean man with two counts: possession of a firearm and ammunition, and being an alien in the Kingdom with an expired permit.
