Thaksin Cooks for Evacuees Amid Border Conflict in Ubon Ratchathani

Ubon ratchathani: Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra took an unusual approach to aid efforts at a shelter in Ubon Ratchathani Province by setting up a central kitchen to prepare and distribute fried rice with pork to evacuees. This gesture was part of his visit to the region amidst ongoing border conflicts.

According to Thai News Agency, Thaksin arrived in Det Udom Municipality earlier this morning to meet and offer encouragement to refugees affected by the fighting. Marking his birthday, he engaged personally by cooking meals for the villagers. Following this, he visited the multipurpose hall, where residents sang birthday songs to celebrate the occasion.

Thaksin plans to continue his support with visits to five additional locations, delivering supplies to those in need. The Pheu Thai Party center has also established a kitchen capable of distributing two meals daily, serving 4,000 boxed meals per session to evacuees in the area. Thaksin mentioned discussions with the military regarding tactical operations and expressed that the situation appears to be improving.

During his visit, a disturbance occurred when a local woman from Det Udom District demanded accountability for the damage caused by the border conflict. Security personnel intervened to manage the situation.

In Nam Yuen District, heavy overnight rain did not deter the ongoing conflict, with gunfire reported but no damage confirmed.
