Warning Issued to Thai Fishing Boats Amid Border Unrest

Bangkok: The Department of Fisheries has issued a warning urging all types of Thai fishing boats to exercise caution and avoid fishing near the Thai-Cambodian border. This advisory follows ongoing unrest along the border, which has led to clashes, posing safety risks to fishermen, crew members, and their vessels.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suwat Wongsuwat, Deputy Director-General and Spokesperson of the Department of Fisheries, highlighted the concerns of the Fisheries Monitoring Center (FMC) about safety in fishing occupations. He advised fishing boat operators to closely monitor the situation and steer clear of risky areas that may be dangerous or affected by the clashes.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to use the ‘Fisheries Next’ application, developed by the Department of Fisheries, to accurately track and monitor the locations of their vessels at sea. For additional information, stakeholders can contact the FMC Center through various phone numbers or engage with them via Line ID: @114velss and the Fisheries Vessel Management and Fisheries Operation Division’s Facebook page. The department also advises staying updated with the Maritime Interests Protection Center (MARC).

The Department of Fisheries stresses the importance of prioritizing safety and staying informed to prevent unexpected incidents during fishing activities at sea.
