The Prime Minister is pleased that Thailand’s environmental quality situation has improved.

According to the 2023 Environmental Situation Report, the environmental quality situation in many areas has improved, such as the volume of fertilizer and agricultural hazardous substances imported, the volume of mineral production and usage, and the increased use of renewable and alternative energy. The government spokesman said that Pol. Gen. Patcharawat Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minist er of Natural Resources and Environment, responded to the Prime Minister's policy to promote and maintain environmental quality together with all relevant sectors. The environmental situation report for 2023 stated that the environmental quality situation in 2022 in many areas has improved, such as the amount of fertilizer imports that decreased by 25.72 percent from 2021, reflecting the amount of chemical fertilizer use in the country and the trend of chemical residues decreasing. The amount of agricultural hazardous substance imports decreased by 16.18 percent from 2021, reflecting the decrease in demand for agricultural hazardous substances in Thailand. Some areas are under further monitoring, such as the amount of community waste, plastic waste, hazardous waste from both communities and industrial waste, and the amount of infectious waste that has increased. The operation has been upgraded to manage the increasing amount of community waste, plastic waste, hazardous waste, and infectious waste with the gre atest efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, policy recommendations for natural resource and environmental management have been developed, which integrate cooperation from various sectors in the operation. Long-term proposals in the next 10 years take into account the changing situations, the direction of national development, and the participation of various sectors, as follows: organizing a support system for the management of solar cell waste and electric vehicle batteries, promoting the role of the financial and investment sectors in biodiversity management, increasing the capacity of the agricultural sector to adapt to climate change, and promoting environmentally friendly consumption an d services continuously. 'The Prime Minister praised the cooperation of all parties. He saw that even though Thailand is in a challenging and volatile world, it is still possible to control the environmental quality situation to improve in many areas. He believes that this integration of cooperation will drive policy recommendations for natural resource and environmental management and be a tool for operations to maintain and manage the country's natural resources and environment to achieve balance and sustainability effectively,' said Mr. Chai.
