Pathum thani: 144 golfers are set to compete in the Thailand PGA - All Thailand co-sanctioned tournament, vying for a 6 million baht prize, paving the way for Thai professionals to earn points towards the Asian Tour.
According to Thai News Agency, the Professional Golf Association of Thailand, in partnership with the All Thailand Golf Tour, is continuing its co-sanctioned tournaments for the third consecutive year, featuring two events with a total prize pool of 6 million baht. These tournaments will also contribute to the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and Order of Merit points for both tours. The aim is to provide Thai golfers, especially rising stars and rookies, with opportunities to accumulate points, improve their rankings, and pave the way for participation in the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and the Asian Tour. Furthermore, the tournaments will open their doors to international golfers, enhancing their international experience and competitiveness.
Mr. Pongrat Leuangthamrongcharoen, President of the Professional Golf Association of Thailand, emphasized the importance of these co-sanctioned events over the past two years. He noted that they have been significant in helping Thai golfers perform well and accumulate points from domestic competitions, which is crucial for improving rankings and paving the way to ADT, Asian Tour, and higher-level competitions, especially for promising young golfers who are building their careers.
Mr. Chakrapong Thongyai, CEO of the All Thailand Golf Tour, highlighted another important goal of elevating the competition to a more international level. He stated that having foreign golfers participate makes the matches more intense and helps Thai golfers learn from a diverse range of competitors, which is crucial experience in developing their skills before competing at the international level.
Mr. Kasemsuk Jongmanukong, Chief Golf Business Officer of MBK Public Company Limited, expressed gratitude towards the Professional Golf Association of Thailand and the All Thailand Golf Tour for their continued trust in MBK's golf courses to be a part of both tournaments. This year, Lamlukka Golf Club has upgraded some holes to increase the challenge, while Bangkok Golf Club continues to offer highlight holes that allow golfers to plan and build scores during crucial moments of the competition. Lamlukka Golf Club also launched its new image under the concept 'Embrace Nature, Energize Game.'
The competition begins with the 'Singha-SAT MBK Championship 2026,' offering a prize pool of 3 million baht, from August 20-23, 2026, at Lamlukka Country Club, Pathum Thani Province. This will be followed by the 'Singha Bangkok Open 2026,' also with a 3 million baht prize pool, from August 27-30, 2026, at Bangkok Golf Club, Pathum Thani Province.
