2,000 Drones Light Up Hong Kong Skies in Qixi Festival Celebration

Hong kong: A spectacular light show featuring over 2,000 drones transformed the night sky above Victoria Harbour in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region into a romantic canvas to celebrate the Qixi Festival, or traditional Chinese Valentine's Day.

According to Thai News Agency, the performance beautifully blended cutting-edge technology with ancient folklore spanning over two thousand years. The choreographed formations depicted the Magpie Bridge, or Queqiao Bridge, symbolizing the reunion of Niulang (the Cowherd) and Zhinu (the Weaver Girl), accompanied by images of the lovers and giant roses blooming in the sky, captivating the large crowd of locals and tourists.

The Qixi Festival, which falls on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month (Wednesday, August 19th), is one of China's most popular love legends. This drone show aimed to promote this cultural tradition in a modern way. Viewers praised the fluid, transformative aerial light display as a breathtaking experience, with the iconic Hong Kong skyline as a backdrop.
