Kab choeng: Putting an end to the Chong Chom market drama, the 2nd Army Region has clarified that there are no Cambodian vendors selling goods there, confirming that all shops are Thai-owned.
According to Thai News Agency, the 2nd Army Region issued a statement to quell online rumors regarding Cambodian vendors setting up stalls in the Chong Chom market, Kab Choeng district, Surin province. The statement confirmed that on-site investigations revealed the stalls belonged legally to Thai citizens in the area.
Following information circulating on social media alleging the presence of Cambodian vendors setting up stalls in the Chong Chom market area of Kab Choeng District, Surin Province, the 2nd Army Area Command took the matter seriously. The Suranaree Task Force, specifically Task Force 2, along with the Civil Affairs Operations Unit and other local agencies, conducted an investigation at the Chong Chom market in Ban Dan. The investigation revealed that the stalls depicted in the images belonged to Thai citizens residing in the area. No Cambodian vendors were found selling goods in the area as reported on social media. The shop in question is owned by Ms. Trirat Nathi, a Thai resident of Ban Dan. She stated that her shop held a promotional sale with discounts, which attracted a large number of visitors. Influencers from outside the area filmed content, leading to misinterpretations that the vendors were Cambodian.
The 2nd Army Area Command confirms that investigations have not revealed any illegal entry of Cambodian vendors into the area. Security agencies continue to monitor and inspect the border situation to maintain peace and order, ensure public safety, and enforce relevant laws. The public is urged to verify information from reliable sources before sharing information that may cause misunderstandings.
