Chiang Rai: Police join forces to arrest 4 suspects in drug trafficking gang, hiding 447 kilograms of ice in cantaloupe baskets. According to Thai News Agency, Chiang Rai Provincial Police, in collaboration with several units, arrested four suspects along with evidence including two pickup trucks and 25 fruit baskets. Inside the baskets, cantaloupes were placed on top of plastic bags containing 12-18 bags of ice, accumulating to a total of 447 kilograms. The arrests took place at a major agricultural produce wholesale market in the Mueang Chiang Rai District. The investigation revealed that this gang had previously transported drugs hidden in cantaloupe baskets on three occasions. A relative of one of the suspects provided the fruit to disguise the drugs and hired the group to deliver the narcotics to the central region. After initial questioning, the suspects and evidence were handed over to investigators for further legal action.
