Bangkok: The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) celebrates its 75th anniversary, transforming ports for the future in line with the Ministry of Transport's infrastructure development policy to create seamless logistics. The PAT is pursuing Smart Ports, Laem Chabang Phase 3, and regional port projects. The PAT also reported a profit of over 3.5 billion baht in the first half of the year.
According to Thai News Agency, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) held a ceremony to celebrate its 75th anniversary, along with social activities, donations to charitable organizations, and award presentations to employees to boost morale. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, presided over the ceremony, and Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Sanpetch Bunyamanee, also attended.
Mr. Pipat revealed that over the past 75 years, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), as an agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, has demonstrated a crucial role in driving the country's waterway transportation system and economy. Looking ahead, he urged PAT to continue implementing the Ministry of Transport's policies to upgrade port infrastructure, create seamless logistics and transportation connections, and leverage technology and innovation to enhance port management through integrated collaboration with all sectors. Emphasis should be placed on social responsibility, environmental protection, and human resource development to align with the modern global context, thereby contributing to Thailand's continued growth.
Sub-Lieutenant Rattakorn Khiewpaisan, Acting Director of the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), stated that in line with the Ministry of Transport's policy to upgrade infrastructure and connect the country's logistics systems, PAT is ready to move forward with organizational development under the concept of "Empowering Thailand's Future." This focuses on increasing service efficiency, utilizing technology and automation in port management, environmental operations, and fostering cooperation with communities and all sectors. This will be driven by five key areas: Smart Ports, Green Ports, Community Empowerment, Regional Connectivity, and the development of Laem Chabang Port Phase 3.
Furthermore, in terms of performance for the first half of fiscal year 2026 (October 2025-March 2026), the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) had total revenue of 8,306 million baht, an increase of 2.30%, and a net profit of 3,571 million baht, an increase of 1.88% compared to the same period of the previous year. There were 7,610 vessel calls, an increase of 3.24%; cargo throughput was 63.86 million tons, an increase of 3.53%; and container throughput was 6.08 million TEU, an increase of 9.19%.
Sub-Lieutenant Rattakorn further stated that, regarding Bangkok Port, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) is accelerating the development of infrastructure to accommodate the increasing volume of goods. This includes the adoption of technology and digital systems in port management, the development of Bangkok Port into a semi-automated port, the development of a Bangkok Port distribution center and a multimodal transport and distribution center to increase the efficiency of space utilization and goods distribution, and the development of connecting routes between Bangkok Port and the Bangna-At Narong Expressway (S1) to mitigate traffic congestion.
For Laem Chabang Port, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) continues to proceed with the Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 project as planned, while accelerating traffic and cargo management to enhance efficiency and support the expansion of the country's trade and transportation sectors, as well as meet future service demands. Regarding regional ports, PAT focuses on developing port capabilities to align with the economic role of each area. Ranong Port aims to support cargo transportation on the Andaman Sea, linking trade with BIMSTEC countries and supporting the development of the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC). Meanwhile, Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong commercial ports focus on improving infrastructure and services to strengthen their roles as trade hubs in the Mekong region and economic linkages with neighboring countries.
Furthermore, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) prioritizes environmental protection, the quality of life for the public, and coexistence with communities around the area, ensuring that port development can grow steadily and sustainably alongside the surrounding society and environment.
