Bangkok: His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has issued a royal command appointing Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul as the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand. This appointment follows the conclusion of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra’s term in accordance with the Constitution, Section 170, paragraph one (4), and related sections.

According to Thai News Agency, the Speaker of the House of Representatives submitted the matter to His Majesty the King for royal approval after the House of Representatives voted on 7 September 2025. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul received more than half of the total votes from the members of the House, leading to his appointment.

The royal command highlights the use of powers under Section 158 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, marking the official commencement of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul’s term as Prime Minister. The appointment is effective immediately as announced on 7 September 2025, during the 10th year of the current reign. The Royal Command was received by Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the House of Representatives.
