Inspectors meeting urgently! Expected to discuss the knot of repeated nominations

Ombudsman July 24-Ombudsmen meet urgently today. Expected to consider the petition of 2 academics to submit to the Constitutional Court to reinterpret the nomination of "Pitha"

The reporter reported that The Ombudsman called an urgent meeting this morning (July 24) to discuss an important agenda, which is expected to be a request from two academics who asked to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court to decide on the resolution of the parliamentary meeting that the nomination of Mr. Pita Lim Charoenrat is a repeated motion after Mr. Pornchai Theppanya, an independent academic, and Mr. Boonsong Chaletorn, a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Innovation. Rangsit University exercised its right under section 213 of the constitution to submit a petition to submit a matter and opinion to the Constitutional Court to consider and decide that the parliamentary meeting on July 19 resolved that the nomination of Mr. Pita for parliamentarians to vote for prime minister according to Article 41 of the 2020 parliamentary regulations was a repeat motion. Is it an act that violates the rights and liberties protected by the Constitution? and if the Constitutional Court accepts the petition Requesting an order to be sent to the parliament to end the election of the prime minister until the Constitutional Court has a decision.

However, the request of the two scholars stated that the resolution of the parliamentary meeting could not nominate Mr. Phitha repeatedly. because it is a repeat motion Referring to Article 41 of the Parliamentary Rules of Assembly, it was viewed that the Constitution specifically stipulates the selection of the Prime Minister according to Section 159 of the Constitution in conjunction with Section 272, which, as long as the selection process for the Prime Minister has not yet been completed. The prime minister nominee can be nominated continuously. Therefore, the resolution of the parliamentary meeting is equal to whether the constitution has been violated by Article 41 of the parliamentary regulations or not. Therefore, the Ombudsman is asked to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court for a decision. It is reported that at about 2:30 p.m., the Ombudsman will announce the results of the meeting. For the election of the Prime Minister for the 3rd time, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly, scheduled to vote on the election of the Prime Minister on July 27.-Thai News Agency
