The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is rushing to restore the damaged distribution system and is cutting off electricity in areas with high flooding in Mae Sai, Mae Fah Luang and Mueang districts, Chiang Rai province. Currently, 12,470 households are without electricity. PEA reported that it is expediting the recovery of damaged distribution systems and cutting off electricity in areas of high flooding due to flash floods from the Ruak River (the river dividing the Thai-Burmese border) that have inundated the Sai Lom Joy Market area in front of the Mae Sai Border Checkpoint 1 and gradually flowing into other areas of Mae Sai Subdistrict Municipality, Mae Sai District, Mae Fah Luang District, and Mueang Chiang Rai District. Water from the Kok River has overflowed and flooded Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai Province. PEA has set up a center to assist in the event of an unusual event, providing support in various areas such as cranes, tools, and equipment to repair damaged power systems so that electricity can be restored to normal as soon as possible. In addition, PEA places importance on public safety, as some areas need to cut off electricity to reduce potential dangers. Currently, 12,470 households are affected by the lack of electricity.
