Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva led the Democrat Party team to register as MPs, expressing excitement at returning to parliament and emphasizing that they are awaiting the government formation decision. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, led the party's MPs, both list and constituency MPs, to report to the Office of the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives. He then took the MPs on a tour of the new Parliament building to familiarize them with the space, as they had never worked in the new building before.
According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere during the tour was friendly, with Chai Dechdecho leading the group on a tour of the press conference room, the parking area, the parliamentary meeting hall, and the committee rooms. Meanwhile, Mr. Abhisit praised the new parliament building for its grandeur.
During a press conference, Mr. Abhisit also joked about the Premier League after his favorite team, Newcastle, beat Manchester United 2-1 despite being down to 10 players. He quipped, "They won even with 10 men. Would Manchester United only win if they were down to 9?"
Mr. Abhisit admitted that he initially didn't think he would return to work in parliament again, but affirmed that he is ready to perform his duties to the best of his ability because parliamentary work is something he has done throughout his political life.
Regarding its political stance, the Democrat Party reiterated that it has not yet been approached to join the government and will wait to hear from the Prime Minister. It also urged the swift formation of the government to restore confidence in the economic, energy, and commodity prices amidst global volatility.
Following the delegation's return, Chuan Leekpai, a party-list MP, came to report in as an additional measure, having been occupied with prior commitments.
