Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, the prime ministerial candidate and leader of the Democrat Party, announced that an agreement has been reached with the people of the South to expel anyone involved in vote buying from the region. This declaration was made during his final major rally in the southern region, as the election campaign enters its concluding stages.
According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit addressed concerns about renewed reports of vote buying, emphasizing the commitment to uphold electoral integrity in the South. He also outlined plans for further rallies in the region early next month, with events scheduled on February 1st in Nakhon Si Thammarat, February 2nd in Songkhla, and February 3rd in Trang and Phatthalung. Abhisit extended an invitation to the public to attend these rallies, highlighting the Democrat Party's aim to guide the government with honesty, public interest, unity, and effective policy implementation.
In response to questions about Ms. Khattiya Sawasdiphol, a Pheu Thai Party parliamentary candidate, and her social media comments regarding the 2010 crackdown on protests, she clarified her stance. She noted that her comments were not intended as a campaign tool but were responses to media inquiries, underscoring the need for justice for those affected by past events.
