Air Canada Pilot Arrested for Flying Without License for Nearly Two Decades

Preel: A 59-year-old former Air Canada pilot and captain has been arrested and charged with pilot license forgery and fraud after falsely claiming to operate large commercial aircraft without the proper license for nearly 17 years.

According to Thai News Agency, police in Preel, Ontario, have announced the arrest of Jeffrey Wall on charges of pilot license forgery and fraud. Since 2009, Wall had used a fake Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) to pilot large commercial aircraft, despite only possessing a basic commercial pilot license. This deceit allowed him to fly as a captain on more than 900 flights of Boeing 767, 777, and 787 aircraft domestically and internationally, earning nearly $3 million in salary.

The discovery of Wall's deception came to light in 2025 during a routine operational assessment at Pearson International Airport, where officials found irregularities in his permit documents. This led to an investigation by the Canadian Ministry of Transport under the codename Project Icarus, resulting in Wall's arrest. He now faces seven criminal charges, including fraud exceeding $5,000, forgery, and making false statements to authorities.

Air Canada has suspended and terminated Wall following the revelation of his fraudulent activities. The airline assured the public that passenger safety was not compromised, as Wall had consistently passed flight proficiency tests and simulator training. Air Canada is conducting a review of its pilots' backgrounds and licenses to ensure no further incidents of fraud are present among its personnel.
