Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul has clarified that the upcoming reshuffle of the Ministry of Interior in August is not a "reset" but a necessary move to achieve tangible results in light of the local government exam cheating scandal. He emphasized the importance of accountability under criminal, civil, and disciplinary laws, promising that the government will support those who perform well and take action against wrongdoing.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the issue in an interview, stating that while a comprehensive overhaul could be perceived as a "reset," the changes will be implemented immediately. Anutin expressed regret over the situation within the Ministry, acknowledging the public's concern and dissatisfaction due to the exam cheating scandal. He likened the approach to the one used by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin in seizing encroached state land, highlighting that the evidence is clear and multiple agencies are involved in parallel investigations.
Anutin further noted that the government has made significant progress in just two weeks by exposing the corruption in the local government exams, leading to the initiation of criminal, civil, and disciplinary actions. He reiterated the government's commitment to supporting those who act rightly and ensuring swift measures against wrongdoing to prevent future occurrences.
When questioned about the nature of the reshuffle in August, whether minor or major, Anutin responded by emphasizing the importance of matching the right individuals to the right jobs. He explained that the suitability of individuals might change over time, necessitating evaluations and actions by executives.
Anutin also addressed inquiries about whether the transfer policy would be based on merit or political affiliations, stating that the government is guided by its colors-red, white, and blue-and does not discriminate based on other factions.
