Sikhiu: Anutin Charnvirakul has directed expedited compensation efforts following a crane collapse that resulted in a train accident in Sikhiu, Nakhon Ratchasima. The incident prompted the cancellation of his campaign rally in Phang Nga as he ordered Pipat Charnvirakul to urgently oversee the response efforts.
According to Thai News Agency, upon receiving news of the crane collapse in Sikhiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, promptly canceled his afternoon campaign activities in Phang Nga. He traveled to Phuket to catch a flight back to Bangkok, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. Once they arrived in Bangkok, Mr. Pipat proceeded directly to the accident site in Sikhiu District.
Reporters conveyed that the Prime Minister has tasked Mr. Pipat with taking command of the situation on the ground. The top priority is to provide compensation to those injured and to the families of the deceased, labeling it as an urgent matter. Additionally, Anutin advised the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to initiate legal action against the contractor responsible for the crane.
