Anutin Defends Fuel Price Cuts Against Opposition Criticism

Bangkok:Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has come under fire from opposition MPs who criticized the government's decision to lower the prices of E20 gasoline and B20 diesel fuels. The opposition argued that the move did not adequately target the groups most affected by high fuel prices.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin responded to the criticism with a laugh and a shake of his head, arguing that those who are better off do not comprehend rural lifestyles. He emphasized that the government's priority is to assist those in genuine need, such as farmers who face significant financial burdens.

Anutin elaborated on his stance, stating that reducing the cost of these fuels could make a significant difference for farmers, potentially saving them 10 baht. He highlighted the potential for these price cuts to boost demand for agricultural products used in biodiesel production, thereby decreasing dependence on imported crude oil. Anutin suggested that urban MPs fail to grasp the realities of rural life and the challenges faced by farmers.
