Bangkok: "Anutin" has asserted that the Bhumjaithai Party is not involved in any collusion regarding the selection of senators, despite the recent emergence of "Deputy Minister Songsak's brother" in lot 5. He emphasized that all facts will come to light and urged all parties to work together without resorting to sarcastic remarks.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed the issue following the Election Commission's (EC) request for senators to acknowledge charges of collusion in the senator selection process. Among those summoned was Mr. Pornperm Thongsri, Senator Group 13 from Buriram Province, who is the brother of Mr. Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior and a key leader of the Bhumjaithai Party. Anutin made it clear that neither he nor the Bhumjaithai Party had any involvement in the matter.
Mr. Pornperm, closely associated with the Bhumjaithai Party, resides in Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province. Anutin advised those informed of the charges to prepare their information. He mentioned that Mr. Napintorn Srisanpang, Deputy Minister of Commerce, was the only Bhumjaithai Party-related individual he was aware of who had cooperated fully with the EC's investigation. Anutin reiterated that the Bhumjaithai Party was not connected to the senator-related accusations.
Following the notification of charges against Mr. Naphin, reports indicated positive cooperation and mutual respect. As per Anutin's knowledge, only Mr. Naphin has been implicated so far, with no reports concerning others.
When questioned about Mr. Napit's clarification of the broad accusations, Anutin confirmed that they were indeed broad. He recalled that Mr. Napit answered a few questions, although he could not remember the specifics.
Anutin addressed the notion of pre-emptive accusations, emphasizing that if all parties act fairly and with good intentions, and if those involved cooperate without being stubborn or sarcastic, the matter can be resolved swiftly. He stressed that the truth can be verified, and all will be proven by facts.
