Anutin Discusses Strengthening Thai-Chinese Trade and Tourism Cooperation

Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul recently met with the Thai-Chinese Foreign Trade Association to discuss Thailand’s import and export policies, emphasizing the strong friendship between the two nations and pushing for comprehensive cooperation.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted the close Thai-Chinese relationship during the recent APEC meeting, where he engaged in discussions with President Xi Jinping. During these talks, the Thai government reassured the Chinese leader of its commitment to not using casinos as a means of economic stimulation and emphasized the importance of Chinese tourist safety. President Xi expressed satisfaction with these commitments and a willingness to encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Thailand.

The discussions also covered promoting trade in Thai agricultural products, with successful negotiations resulting in China confirming the import of 500,000 tons of Thai rice. Additionally, the Chinese leader was invited to visit Thailand, reflecting a positive attitude towards the country. The Thai government intends to leverage this opportunity to expand cooperation in areas such as economics, security, tourism, and culture.

On this occasion, the Thai-Chinese Foreign Trade Association reported on their efforts to promote Thai-Chinese trade and investment, alongside various social activities. They commended the Thai government for its swift response to addressing scam issues and proposed stricter legal penalties. They also suggested incentives for Chinese tourists, including promoting the use of Alipay and WeChat Pay in travel services. The Prime Minister accepted these proposals, emphasizing his commitment to achieving tangible results in Thai-Chinese cooperation.
