Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed speculations surrounding Captain Thammanat Promphao's recent trip to Monaco, where former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was also reportedly present. Anutin dismissed the potential political implications, emphasizing that "red and green mixed together eventually become blue," thus downplaying the rumors of a possible "Red-Green Declaration."
According to Thai News Agency, during an interview, Anutin cautioned against using the term "reset" in relation to the Ministry of Interior's operations, asserting that his administration supports those who act in the public's interest and takes appropriate action against those who do not. Anutin emphasized that personnel transfers are conducted to optimize task fulfillment.
The Prime Minister elaborated on the issue of potential reshuffling within the Ministry of Interior, explaining that the term "reset" should not be applied as it might imply disruption of operations. Anutin expressed regret over the concerns and dissatisfaction among the public, citing recent issues such as cheating on civil service exams and the seizure of state land encroached upon as examples of misconduct being addressed by the government.
Anutin highlighted the government's commitment to swiftly uncovering corruption and taking necessary action. He noted that within two weeks, investigations had led to the identification of those involved, summonses, arrest warrants, and the initiation of criminal, civil, and disciplinary proceedings. The government's stance is clear: support for those who contribute positively and prevention of wrongdoing.
When questioned about a possible major reshuffle in August, Anutin downplayed the significance of the size of the reshuffle, emphasizing the importance of matching individuals with appropriate roles and situations. He stated that the suitability of personnel may change over time, requiring continuous evaluation by executives.
On the criteria for making transfers, Anutin clarified that the government operates without bias towards any particular group or color, underscoring a commitment to the national interest above all. The administration, he asserted, is characterized by its dedication to the principles represented by the colors red, white, and blue.
