Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized the partnership between Thailand and Vietnam, marking the crane as a symbol of 50 years of friendship. He outlined a strategic approach for future collaboration by directing seven ministries to enhance cooperation across various dimensions.
According to Thai News Agency, following a Cabinet meeting, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul reflected on his successful official visit to Vietnam. The visit coincided with the celebration of five decades of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Ms. Rachada elaborated that the visit offered a valuable opportunity to build upon the achievements of President To Lam's previous visit to Thailand. Discussions during these visits spanned bilateral relations, leveraging existing cooperative frameworks like the JCBC, and addressing trade, investment, people-to-people relations, security, and regional collaboration.
The visit to Vietnam also included a delegation of Thai business leaders, aiming to fortify connections and explore investment opportunities for Thai businesses in Vietnam. Anutin instructed relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Transport, among others, to expedite cooperation initiatives.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Ms. Supajee Suthamphan was tasked with establishing a joint committee on trade and investment. This committee will serve as a platform for discussions to enhance trade value and resolve trade and investment challenges, transitioning the countries from mere trading partners to "partners of the future."
Ms. Rachada further noted that the cranes symbolize the strong bond between Thailand and Vietnam. Following the delivery of six cranes last year, another six will be sent this year per an MOU between the Zoological Park Organizations of both countries, focusing on crane conservation and breeding.
Anutin has directed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to facilitate additional crane deliveries beyond the initial agreement, commemorating 50 years of diplomatic ties between the countries.
