According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed concerns about reports of other people's names appearing in household registration lists during the final stages of the election. The Ministry of Interior faced accusations of conducting excessive and time-consuming checks, causing inconvenience to citizens. Anutin emphasized that the Ministry is consistently verifying names, especially in cases involving compensation payments to the public, although a small margin of error might occur.
When questioned about fictitious names appearing in household registration lists during the election period, Anutin dismissed the concerns as mere speculation. He assured the public of his ability to distinguish between his roles as Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, emphasizing that he does not engage in electioneering or favoritism. Anutin highlighted his commitment to fulfilling his duties impartially, irrespective of nationality or kinship.
Addressing questions about election campaign activities, Anutin confirmed there had been no unusual incidents. He recounted his campaign trip to Ayutthaya province, where he took leave from official duties and met Mr. Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, chairman of the Progressive Movement, in a respectful manner. Anutin reiterated the importance of mutual respect and fulfilling responsibilities without personal conflicts.
In response to inquiries about Deputy Prime Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn's campaign statements encouraging votes for patriotic parties, Anutin declined to comment, suggesting direct communication with Pipat for clarification. Anutin emphasized the importance of adhering to legal frameworks and maintaining clear distinctions between official duties and political activities. He instructed that ministers must take proper leave and avoid using government resources during campaign activities.
Anutin expressed confidence in the Bhumjaithai Party's resilience against discrediting efforts, noting that their strong performance in past elections has made them formidable competitors.
