The Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) is preparing to provide assistance for Thai students from the deep South studying overseas and being affected by the COVID situation.

SBPAC Assistant Secretary-General Teerapong Petcharat said that the assistance would be offered in a special case for Thai students in foreign countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Sudan, and they need to come back.

In this case, emphasis is given to the students who graduated in July and their visa will expire in August. In order to come back now, they are required to comply with measures set by the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA). Among these measures is a 14-day quarantine.

In this regard, Mr. Teerapong said that the SBPAC would coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for arranging quarantine facilities for the students and providing them with other assistance, as well.

He said that the deep South has still been affected by the spread of COVID-19. The SBPAC Secretary-General had urged local residents to strictly follow measures against the disease, so that the situation would ease as soon as possible.

Local people in the southern border provinces have also been encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Moreover, workplace cleaning and disinfecting at the SBPAC have been carried out regularly to create confidence among the personnel and people who come for official contact.
