Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Police announces results of major drug network raid

Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Police announces the results of the crackdown on a major drug network, arresting 22 people and seizing assets worth over 160 million baht. Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran Nuanma, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Kirisak Tantinawachai, Commander-in-Chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Itthiphon Chansribut, Commander of the Traffic Police Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Witat Borirak, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Lt. Gen. Chirawat Nakarat, Director of the Internal Security Operations Command Center 2, ISOC, Mr. Bandit Leelaphat, Senior Investigation Expert, Director of the Narcotics Suppression and Intelligence Operations Division 7, Office of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, and relevant officers. Participated in the announcement of the results of the drug suppression, hunting down 100 networks, closing off and searching in 8 provinces, arresting 5 major drug trafficking networks, totaling 7 cas es, during 9-30 June, arresting 22 suspects, seizing 10,420,000 methamphetamine pills, 524 kg of ice, 5.6 kg of heroin, 28 kg of ketamine, seizing assets worth more than 160 million baht. Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran said that the results of the Royal Thai Police's drug suppression operations during the 9-month period from October 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 can be summarized as follows: 1. Arrests of small-time dealers in all areas nationwide totaled 84,686 cases, an increase of 27,180 cases or an increase of 47.26%, which is considered a reduction in the spread of drugs to users in communities nationwide. 2. Intercepted and arrested major drug trafficking cases, small-scale drugs transported within districts or provinces totaling 516 cases, medium-sized drugs transported within the province and between neighboring provinces totaling 266 cases, and large-scale drugs transported across regions or across countries totaling 212 cases. A total of 995 cases were intercepted and arrested, an increase of 265 cases or an incr ease of 36.30%. Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran added that 3. Destroying the networks of those who ordered or were involved, as follows: Prosecution of conspiracy charges, 1,443 cases, an increase of 656 cases or an increase of 83.35%; Prosecution of money laundering charges, 130 cases, an increase of 68 cases or an increase of 109.6%; Arrests of suspects under arrest warrants for drug cases, serious charges, 3,227 arrest warrants, able to arrest and achieve the target for the entire fiscal year 2024, up to 448 arrest warrants; Seizure of assets for inspection, totaling 9,334 million baht; 4. Seizure of drug evidence The following were seized: 797 million methamphetamine pills, an increase of 436 million pills or 120.63% from the same period in 2019; 4,183 kg of ketamine, an increase of 561 kg or 15.48%; 1,270 kg of heroin, an increase of 427 kg or 50.65%; 15,645 kg of crystal methamphetamine. The work of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau during 9-30 June 2014 was able to arrest 1,076 major drug trafficking cases with 1,436 suspects. The evidence was 327,433,971 methamphetamine pills, 7,326 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 406 kg of heroin, 2.109 kg of ketamine, and 2,005 ecstasy pills. The assets were seized for investigation with a value of approximately 3.616 billion baht. The Narcotics Suppression Bureau will continue to strictly suppress and arrest drug dealers at all levels, including intercepting the transport and using all legal measures to destroy drug trafficking networks.
