Bangkok: Rangers from Unit 45, in conjunction with police, intercepted a human trafficking ring, arresting six suspects and seizing one vehicle after a pursuit in the Rangae area of Narathiwat.
According to Thai News Agency, the 4501st Ranger Company, Task Force 45, joined forces with the 447th Border Patrol Police Company following a report from the Ra-ngae District Chief regarding gunfire near the Tan Yong Mas Subdistrict Protection Unit in Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat Province. Investigation revealed that officers from the 447th Border Patrol Police Company, along with plainclothes officers from the Narathiwat Marine Police, were pursuing a suspicious Toyota Revo pickup truck, license plate ?? 7880 Yala, which was being used to smuggle illegal migrant workers. During the operation, officers fired at the vehicle's tires to stop it, but the driver continued to flee along Highway 4107, the Ra-ngae - Yingor route.
Following the notification of the incident, the 4501st Ranger Company deployed personnel to set up a checkpoint. The vehicle subsequently lost control and crashed into the barriers at the checkpoint in front of the unit's operational base. Officers then took control of the situation and, in cooperation with officers from the 447th Border Patrol Police Company, apprehended the suspect in Moo 8, Ban Pulasai, Tan Yong Mas Subdistrict, Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat Province.
The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects: one Thai national, Mr. Muhammad Patli (surname withheld), the driver, and five Myanmar nationals (Rohingya). A pickup truck used in the incident was also seized.
Currently, officers from Border Patrol Police Company 447 have handed over the suspects and foreign nationals to investigating officers for further legal proceedings. This operation demonstrates the cooperation of security agencies in preventing and suppressing illegal immigration, in order to maintain peace and order, ensure public safety, and continuously strengthen security in the southern border provinces, in accordance with the mission of the Internal Security Operations Command.
