Authorities Dismantle Transnational Money Laundering Network in Major Operation

Tunis:Authorities have successfully dismantled a scammer money laundering network, seizing assets valued at over 500 million baht. The operation, termed "Anti-Scam Matrix," involved comprehensive searches at 27 targeted locations across 11 provinces.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation was led by Police Lieutenant General Chirapop Phuridej, Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and Deputy Director of the Online Anti-Fraud Center (ACSC). During a press conference, he detailed the efforts that led to the arrest of 39 individuals, including 30 Thai nationals, 8 Chinese, and 1 Myanmar national.

The scam primarily involved deceiving victims through Facebook, where they were lured into investing in stock trading with promises of high returns. Victims were added to a Line group where accomplices, posing as decoys, manipulated them into opening trading accounts and downloading fake applications. These victims transferred money to the scammers’ accounts but faced demands for additional fees when attempting to withdraw their profits, making it impossible to retrieve their funds.
