Bangkok: Authorities are gearing up to announce the dismantling of a Forex investment network on June 19th, revealing a diagram of politicians and entertainment celebrities linked to the operation.
According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Justice is set to disclose details of the operation which targeted a widespread Forex investment scam involving both prominent politicians and entertainment industry figures.
On June 16, 2026, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Colonel Yutthana Praedam, collaborated with several agencies, including the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) and the Bank of Thailand (BOT), to launch "Operation Shutdown the Laundering." This operation covered 24 locations across Bangkok and surrounding provinces, targeting networks involved in unauthorized forex trading. Investigators seized assets valued over 65 million baht, including cash, luxury items, and digital equipment, and froze more than 70 bank accounts.
A report from the Ministry of Justice highlighted that the operation was initiated due to complaints from hundreds of victims who were lured into investing in Forex through deceptive applications promising high returns. Many victims initially received returns, which encouraged further investment. However, as the scheme expanded, the returns ceased, and the platforms started shutting down, prompting victims to file complaints with the DSI.
The investigation has uncovered connections to a prominent politician and several well-known entertainment figures. The method used in this case bears similarities to the notorious Forex-3D pyramid scheme. The investigative team continues to gather evidence and question victims, expanding the probe into involved legal entities.
On June 19th, Pol. Gen. Ruddhaphol Naowarat, Minister of Justice, will lead a press conference to announce the operation's results. The briefing will include a diagram of individuals and corporations involved, detailing the estimated damages and evidence seized from the raids on the network.
