BAAC Collaborates to Boost Paddy Rice and Local Fruit Prices

Chiang rai: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is working with several agencies to enhance the prices of paddy rice and local fruits. They aim to produce high-value, standardized products that align with modern market requirements.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, Manager of BAAC, led a delegation from the Cabinet Secretariat, the Budget Bureau, and the Fiscal Policy Office to visit a prominent enterprise focusing on adding value to agricultural products. This included a visit to the Thitinan Community Enterprise in Dongmada Subdistrict, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai Province. The enterprise processes sticky rice and local fruits such as plums, mangoes, and pineapples into local spirits under brands like Pa Lan, MALONGZE, LANGMAZE, and Wanwan, thereby boosting the local economy.

The initiative also aims to foster sustainable employment and income for community members. The delegation visited the Sap Rung Rueang Community Enterprise in Muang Chi Subdistrict, Lamphun Province, which processes sugarcane into local spirits under various brands, creating unique local products. The tour also included Chang Thong Heritage Park in Chiang Mai Province, an ancient tree museum and ecotourism center preserving over 2,000 rare trees and plants, providing public access for learning about green space management.

Furthermore, the visit included Pluk Phak Phro Rak Mae Co., Ltd. (Ohkajhu), an organic vegetable farm combining modern and traditional farming methods to produce a high yield of over 850,000 kilograms per year. The BAAC manager and his team offered advice on improving product quality to meet market demands, supporting the development of community and local agricultural products for international markets.
