Bangkok: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is taking swift action to support soldiers and border patrol police officers who lost their lives and were customers of the bank. The bank is offering assistance to the parents or spouses of these individuals by waiving all outstanding debts, aiming to alleviate their financial burden and help them sustain their livelihoods.
According to Thai News Agency, the BAAC Manager, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, disclosed that the ongoing unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border, particularly impacting Buriram, Sisaket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Trat, and Sa Kaeo provinces, has gravely affected the safety and property of the bank’s farmer customers. In light of the deaths of several soldiers who were family members of BAAC customers, the bank’s Board of Directors, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, has resolved to offer necessary support.
The resolution includes assistance for BAAC customers whose family members, serving as soldiers or border patrol police officers, died while on duty amid the unrest between Thailand and Cambodia. The bank will waive the principal loan amount, accrued interest, and penalties for all contracts financed through BAAC, treating these cases with special consideration. So far, BAAC has provided aid to seven families of fallen soldiers.
