Bangkok: Bang Sue police have apprehended a Korean border patrolman accused of stealing a taxi in the Chatuchak area, culminating in a dramatic chase that ended when the vehicle collided with a railway barrier. The suspect was detained immediately following the incident. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Phuwanon Aunphothi, Superintendent of Bang Sue Police Station, led the arrest alongside Pol. Lt. Col. Woraphat Sukthai, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Pol. Lt. Col. Wuttidet Phakha, and Pol. Lt. Santhaya Nakbangkaew. The officers arrested 52-year-old Kim Wang Gil, a Korean national, confiscating a blue taxi with the license plate number Thor Lor 9000 Bangkok. Mr. Kim faces charges of theft, trespassing, and property damage. The arrest took place at a gas station on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road in Bangkok's Chatuchak District. The incident unfolded after a report was received from the Bang Sue Police Station radio center concerning a stolen taxi at the specified gas station. Upon arrival, officers i dentified Mr. Kim Wang Gil as the suspect. Despite a thorough search, no illegal items were found on him at the time. The victim, identified as Mr. Suthep, recounted that he had left his vehicle unlocked at the gas station while he went to wash his face, believing it was safe due to the frequent presence of other taxi drivers. To his surprise, someone drove off with his taxi before he could return. He promptly engaged a motorcycle taxi to pursue the thief and alerted the police. The chase concluded when Mr. Kim crashed into a railway barrier in the Chatuchak area, breaking it. Police then escorted him to the Bang Sue Police Station. Mr. Kim Wang Gil admitted to the theft, and legal proceedings are underway at the Bang Sue Police Station.
