Bangkok Gubernatorial Candidate Charntep Sesavej Vows to Combat Corruption and Address Rama 2 Road Issues

Bangkok: Pol. Gen. Charntep Sesavej, known as "Big Hyam," the Bangkok gubernatorial candidate representing the Economic Party, number 12, recently campaigned in Thonburi, focusing on issues of corruption and infrastructure. His campaign tour began at the infamous Rama 2 Road, where he pointed out the long-standing construction delays as a symbol of government inefficiency. Residents voiced their concerns about safety hazards caused by dust, debris, and traffic congestion.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Charntep criticized the lack of transparency in government budget management and procurement, highlighting that the Rama 2 Road issue is not merely an unfinished construction project but a representation of broader governmental neglect. He emphasized that the everyday users of the road bear the unforeseen risks due to the project's stagnation. The campaign trail then led him to Bang Bon district, where he paid respects at Bang Bon Temple before engaging with local leaders and residents to discuss community issues.

During his visit to the ring road intersection, Pol. Lt. Gen. Charntep encountered complaints from citizens about monthly bribes of 300 baht demanded by some officials from sidewalk vendors. He declared that such extortion practices must be eradicated through transparency and accountability in all procedures. His campaign also addressed concerns from Thai vendors at Suk Sawat Market about competition from migrant workers, calling for equally enforced regulations that prioritize fairness irrespective of ethnicity.

The campaign concluded at Phran Nok Intersection, where General Rangsi Kitiyanasap, leader of the Economic Party, joined to rally public support. He assured voters of the party's commitment to addressing issues with facts and transparency, emphasizing their readiness to tackle problems throughout Bangkok in collaboration with its citizens. The public's enthusiastic response underscored the urgency and importance of these issues in the upcoming gubernatorial race.
