According to Thai News Agency, the collaboration aims to build on the hospital's extensive experience with over 1,000 da Vinci Xi robotic-assisted surgical cases. The partnership will focus on expanding knowledge, developing surgical standards, and fostering expertise among Thai surgeons. Through education, training, and experience exchange, the initiative seeks to elevate Thailand's surgical standards internationally.
Dr. Ekkitti Surakarn, Deputy Director of Bangkok Hospital, emphasized the hospital's commitment to combining cutting-edge medical technology with personnel development. The hospital's significant experience in robotic-assisted surgeries has cultivated specialized skills within its surgical team. This collaboration represents a pivotal step towards creating a comprehensive learning system for robotic surgery, ensuring effective and safe treatment for patients.
The one-year MOU outlines a series of projects, including establishing an in-house robotic surgery training center, developing surgeons and specialists through both national and international training programs, and organizing the BDMS Robotic Surgery Annual Meeting in 2026. This meeting will celebrate the hospital's achievements and facilitate knowledge exchange among experts globally to enhance robotic-assisted surgery standards.
Dr. Chanin Pundee, Director of the Surgery Center at Bangkok Hospital, highlighted the advanced use of the da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery system in treating complex cases across various fields. In recent years, Bangkok Hospital has successfully performed numerous abdominal, lung, gynecological, and urinary tract surgeries using this technology, which allows for precise procedures and faster patient recovery. The hospital emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, combining specialized medical expertise with robotic technology to offer comprehensive, personalized patient care.
