Bangkok Schools Collaborate to Enhance AI-Era Teaching Methods

Bangkok:Thirty-one schools in Bangkok have partnered with the Primary Educational Service Commission (PWA) and the Institute for Academic Quality Development (IAQD) to revolutionize teaching methods for the AI era. This collaboration focuses on training teachers to foster critical thinking skills in students, using the GPAS 5 Steps initiative to transform classrooms into spaces that nurture new-generation thinkers.

According to Thai News Agency, the initiative aims to integrate AI as a supportive educational tool, enhancing the entire learning process from curriculum design to teacher competency. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on October 8, 2026, involving the Bangkok Primary Educational Service Area Office (BPEA), IAQD, and various school administrators, underscoring a shared commitment to implementing technological and learning innovations in classrooms.

The collaboration emphasizes AI as a tool to empower thinking rather than replacing teachers. It encourages a shift in teaching roles, urging educators to become coaches and mentors who inspire students to think, research, and innovate. The project involves collaboration among administrators, teachers, parents, and the community to promote ethical AI use and establish professional learning communities to share best practices.

Mr. Paisarn Rojnasranrom of IAQD highlighted the importance of leveraging knowledge, technology, and innovation to benefit each school. This approach aims to elevate students from passive information recipients to active knowledge creators. The initiative also involves developing human resources, particularly school administrators and teachers, who are essential to transforming educational quality and outcomes.

The success of this collaboration is envisioned as a comprehensive change in classroom dynamics, with a focus on developing students' technological resilience and critical thinking skills. School administrators are encouraged to lead this transformation, ensuring that AI serves as a tool for enhancing learning experiences rather than controlling educational outcomes.
