Bangkok Sprinter Phanom Phutcha Clinches Second Gold at 7th Senior Games

Bangkok: “Phanom”, a sprinter from Bangkok, won the 2nd gold medal at the 7th Senior Games. Coach Nok’ Phanom Phutcha, a sprinter from Bangkok, accelerated to the lead in a single roll, winning the 2nd gold medal in the 7th National Senior Games, ‘Khao Lam Games’.

According to Thai News Agency, the athletics event at the Central Stadium, National Sports University, Chonburi Campus, saw intense competition. In the men’s 200 meters race for the 35-39 age category, Phutcha, who had previously secured a gold medal in the 100 meters, dominated the event. Competing in lane seven, he crossed the finish line first with a time of 23.75 seconds, earning his second gold medal. Sathasan Sammayan from Bangkok claimed the silver with a time of 25.00 seconds, and Saksit Chanpan from Satun took bronze with 25.50 seconds.

Phanom, aged 39, expressed his desire for the continuation of senior sports, emphasizing the health benefits for the elderly. He is also noted for coaching Um-Sasirawan Intachoti, a bronze medalist in the T47 category at the 2024 Paralympic Games.

In the 200 meters men’s 85-89 age group, Jamnong Khamenkhetkarn from Uttaradit seized his second gold, completing the race in 43.19 seconds, while Sui Ekkatasang from Khon Kaen and Mana Sittiyothi from Ratchaburi followed in second and third place, respectively. In the 90-94 age group, Mr. Buahan Singharat from Khon Kaen completed the race alone with a time of 53.90 seconds, also securing his second gold.

The gateball event for women’s doubles witnessed a fierce contest. Kritsana Saihong and Kartika Saengphokaew from Sisaket narrowly defeated Seno Boonjerd and Tawi Phromrak from Rayong with a score of 12-11, clinching the gold medal, while Rayong settled for silver.

Complementing the athletics events, the Maen Huay girls’ basketball team from Bangkok, filled with former national team stars, showcased their prowess. The team, led by standout players like Phing-Chuthamas Chantakarn and Channad Tangsurat, has emerged as a strong contender for the championship after winning three consecutive matches.

In the overall medal tally, Bangkok is leading, followed by Chonburi, Khon Kaen, Trang, and Nakhon Ratchasima.
