Blue Line Senator emerges as Chairman of 20 Senate Committees

As expected, the blue-line senators rose to secure the crown, sitting as the chairman of 20 Senate committees, leaving the political development committee to fight fiercely, pushing 'Nantana' out of the way. Keep an eye on 'Angkana-Nifarid' competing for the last chair. Hope that the independent senators will get a seat or not. 'Alongkot Woraki' holds the chairmanship of the budget monitoring committee. Reporters reported that today (September 17) is the last day that the Senate has given senators the opportunity to voluntarily select their positions on the 21 Senate Standing Committees. It appears that most of the selections have ended well without conflict, and 20 out of 21 committee chairs have been selected, with the blue group of senators being selected as committee chairs, leaving only one committee that has not yet reached an agreement. The news report said that the committees that were fiercely contested in this selection were the Committees on Political Development, Public Participation, Human Rig hts, Freedom of Information, and Consumer Protection. The Senate had the most candidates out of the 21 committees, 23 people, and had to select only 18 people according to the regulations. However, they were recruited in order to make the opposing party lose. The competition was more fierce than in other committees. In the end, they could not reach an agreement, so all 23 candidates had to vote among themselves. Whoever got the lowest score was eliminated. The result was that 5 independent senators, including Ms. Nantana Nantvaropas, who got 10 votes, had to leave the committee. This resulted in the blue group senators and the independent group senators having 9 votes each. Therefore, the committee chairperson has not been selected this time, unlike other committees where the chairpersons have already been selected. The news report also stated that the Political Development Committee had to re-elect the committee in the next meeting. The blue group of senators supported Mr. Nifarid Raden Ahmad as the committ ee chairman, while the independent group of senators supported Ms. Angkana Neelapaijit as the committee chairman. Therefore, the next meeting must select the most senior senator to be the temporary chairman. It turned out that Mr. Nifarid, aged 69, is considered the oldest. If the votes are re-voted and the votes are tied, the temporary chairman can cast another deciding vote. Therefore, it must be watched whether Mr. Nifarid will vote to elect himself as the chairman or not. For the 21 standing committee chairman of the Senate, they are: 1. Gen. Sawat Tasana, Chairman of the Committee on Military Affairs and State Security; 2. Mr. Thawat Suraban, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Cooperatives; 3.
