Trang: Urgent efforts are underway to retrieve the body of a female tourist who went missing in the Khao Chet Yod forest for identification and confirmation. The body of a 53-year-old female tourist from Nonthaburi, who became separated from her friends while hiking in the Khao Chet Yod mountain range in Trang province, near the border with Phatthalung province, has been found. Authorities are rushing to transport the body for identification and confirmation.
According to Thai News Agency, more than 100 forestry officials, local administrators, community leaders, and experienced villagers are conducting a thorough search for Ms. Ae, 53, from Mueang District, Nonthaburi Province, who went missing while hiking on the Khao Chet Yod trail within the Khao Banthat Wildlife Sanctuary, on the border of Phatthalung and Trang provinces, since June 1st. She had separated from her group after descending from the mountaintop, and her companions later discovered she had not reached the designated meeting point at Nan Sator Waterfall in Palian District, Trang Province. The search is proving difficult due to heavy rainfall and the rugged, mountainous terrain.
Finally, yesterday evening, the search team found the body of a tourist in the 'Nan Yaan Sai' area, about 3-4 kilometers above Ton Te Waterfall. Mr. Chob Rongdech, head of the Ton Te Forest Protection Unit, believes the deceased is Ms. Ae, the missing person, but they need to wait for the body to be moved down for confirmation. Heavy rain has made the retrieval process difficult. The body has now been successfully brought down.
