Body of Police Pilot Arrives in Trang Province Amidst Family’s Grief

Trang: The body of Police Lieutenant Songphon Boonchai, a pilot from the Police Aviation Division who died in a helicopter crash, arrived in Trang Province where his family and loved ones gathered in grief to receive him for religious rites.

According to Thai News Agency, the body was brought to Trang Airport, where parents and relatives received it with heavy hearts. The crash occurred in Mueang District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province on May 24. Songphon’s girlfriend was present, holding a photo of him as they arrived, before a highway police car transported the body to Trang Hospital. The body will remain there for three days before the commencement of funeral rites.

Funeral rites are scheduled from May 29 to June 4 at Wat Khlong Nam Chet in Tambon Thap Thiang, Mueang Trang District. The royal cremation ceremony will take place on June 5. Songphon, 34, was the youngest of five siblings and would visit his home in Trang Province annually. Known for his good nature and academic diligence, he was cherished by friends and family.
