Bomb Attack in Southern Thailand Injures 6 Security Officers

Yala: Six Border Patrol Police officers were injured, two seriously, after suspected insurgents detonated a roadside bomb and opened fire on a teacher protection unit in Yala province early on Friday. The attack took place in the Thanto district while officers were on a routine patrol.

According to Thai News Agency, the attackers detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) before opening fire on the patrol from the roadside jungle. All six casualties were rushed to a hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The Chief of the Yala Provincial Police has ordered a joint security task force, which includes explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units and forensic teams, to inspect the scene with heightened caution due to concerns over secondary attacks. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
