Bangkok:Boom Panadda has announced her resignation as President of the Good Deeds Organization Foundation amidst ongoing investigations into the foundation's financial activities and construction projects. The foundation will halt all donation activities until the conclusion of these investigations to ensure transparency.
According to Thai News Agency, the legal department of the Tham Dee Foundation released a statement clarifying the construction of a new building in Rangsit Khlong 8, Pathum Thani Province. This building, initiated under Boom Panadda Wongphudee's leadership, was designed to support the foundation’s operations, including housing offices, a storage and coffin donation facility, parking, and accommodation for staff. The facility aims to assist the rescue teams and provide temporary shelters for disaster victims and victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse. The intention is for the building to eventually become national property to support the foundation’s future volunteer efforts.
However, the project faced scrutiny when it was revealed that an individual close to Boom Panadda was overseeing the construction. The costs were directly paid by Boom Panadda to the contractor, and the total estimated costs remain under investigation. The foundation has not yet retrieved all necessary documents for verification from the project coordinator, who remains out of contact. Despite some parts of the building being in use, including roads, storage, and office facilities, the construction is incomplete.
In response to concerns about transparency in financial transactions and construction projects, the foundation is conducting an investigation. Should any wrongdoing be discovered, legal action will be pursued. The foundation has reported issues with the contractor related to payment claims, which are currently under review for accuracy.
Amid these events, Boom Panadda's role as president has been terminated, with Ms. Pornphan Phumrin appointed as acting president. The foundation will continue its social welfare activities as long as resources permit, but will pause all donation channels until the investigation concludes.
