Seoul: A South Korean court is preparing to deport a Brazilian woman who stalked and repeatedly rang the doorbell of BTS member Jungkook 133 times, after sentencing her to one year in prison, suspended for two years.
According to Thai News Agency, South Korean local media reported in detail the behavior of an unnamed Brazilian sasaeng (obsessive fan) who began harassing Jungkook in December of the previous year. She visited his residence in Yongsan District, Seoul, a total of 22 times, throwing objects over the wall, dropping letters and pictures in the doorway, claiming she did it out of love. On one occasion, she rang the doorbell 133 times in a single day, a behavior the court deemed an extreme form of obsession. She also used opportunities to sneak in by following delivery drivers through a side entrance, leading to her initial arrest. Although police released her with a warning and issued an emergency protection order prohibiting her from approaching within 100 meters, she resumed her harassment in January.
A judge at the Seoul Western District Court ruled that the female fan was guilty under the anti-stalking law and of trespassing, but noted that she did not intend to physically harm the artist. She was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years. She had already been detained pending trial for approximately three months. Upon official execution of the verdict, she will be deported from South Korea to prevent reciprocation.
