Cabinet Approves Budget for 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship Expenses

Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved the budget framework for the expenses of hosting the FIVB Women’s World Championships 2025, totaling 1,124.50 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, stated that the Cabinet’s approval of the budget was proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS). The ministry will proceed with the necessary steps to request the budget allocation.

Mr. Karom detailed the financial breakdown for hosting the event, which includes 67.82 million baht for accommodation and food, 16.00 million baht for personnel compensation, and 168.53 million baht allocated for competition and training costs. Other expenses include 9.27 million baht for transportation, 30.50 million baht for advertising and public relations, 10.50 million baht as an SME competition subsidy, and 28.82 million baht for various other costs such as press conference expenses and economic value analysis. Additionally, competition copyright fees amount to 630 million baht, double tax treaty fees are 111.18 million baht, and value-added tax totals 51.88 million baht.

The Sports Authority of Thailand, along with the Volleyball Association of Thailand, has already engaged in discussions with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) regarding the country’s readiness to host the event. The championship is set to take place from August 22 to September 7, 2025, across four provinces: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Phuket.

Mr. Karom emphasized that hosting the competition presents an opportunity for Thailand to showcase its tourist attractions and culture. It is anticipated to generate significant income from foreign tourists, athletes, and officials attending the event. The worldwide public relations value through social media is expected to reach over 1.3 billion spectators, with the estimated economic value from hosting the competition projected at approximately 8,435.70 million baht.
