Bangkok: Angkor is currently experiencing heightened tensions as Cambodia fires machine guns and grenades at Thailand. The situation at Chong An Ma has become increasingly fraught, with military exchanges reported between the two nations. Despite these developments, the Royal Thai Army’s Than Krasae Facebook page has reassured the public, stating, “There have been no clashes yet,” and urging citizens to remain calm and rational, warning against being misled by Cambodia’s actions.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters have confirmed that in the Chong An Ma area of Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, the Cambodian military initiated gunfire using submachine guns aimed at Thai forces. In response, Thai military personnel returned fire with machine guns. The Royal Thai Army’s Facebook page further detailed that Cambodia’s provocative actions included firing machine guns and launching grenades at Chong An Ma. However, it asserted that Thailand has yet to respond with any aggressive actions, reinforcing the message that the situation remains under control and should be viewed with reason and understanding, cautioning against falling prey to Cambodian tactics.
