Surin: Cambodia opened fire with BM-21 multiple rocket launchers in the early morning near the border of Surin province. Authorities have ordered all residents remaining in the area to take shelter in bomb shelters. Meanwhile, heavy artillery fire was heard in Ban Kruat district, Buriram province, since early morning.
According to Thai News Agency, loud clashes between Thai and Cambodian soldiers were recorded near Ta Kwai and Ta Muen Thom temples in Phanom Dong Rak District, and Chong Rayi in Kap Choeng District, along the Thai-Cambodian border in Surin Province. The Phanom Dong Rak district administration issued warnings to residents who remained stranded and refused to evacuate, including village defense volunteers, urging them to move into bomb shelters without delay. Cambodian forces initiated the attack with BM-21 multiple rocket launchers before 5 AM. In response, Thai soldiers from the 2nd Army Area acted in accordance with the rules of engagement to neutralize the threat and ensure safety in the border area.
In Buriram province’s Ban Kruat district, the sound of continuous artillery fire persisted, particularly between 4 and 5 AM, with heavy and intermittent shelling continuing until late morning. Mysterious lights, likely from the exchange of gunfire and surveillance drones, have been observed in the sky. As of now, there are no reports of civilian injuries or deaths in Buriram province, although two individuals with pre-existing medical conditions died during evacuation efforts. Over 30,000 people from Ban Kruat and Lahan Sai districts have been evacuated, with 10,000 relocated to shelters in the provincial capital. The remaining evacuees are either in shelters in other districts or staying with relatives.
