Canadian Police Seize Record Batch of Counterfeit Football Jerseys Worth Over 87 Million Baht

Toronto: Canadian police seized counterfeit football jerseys worth over 87 million baht. Toronto police announced yesterday that they have seized the largest batch of counterfeit football jerseys in Canadian history, just weeks before the World Cup begins.

According to Thai News Agency, police seized counterfeit goods worth over CAD $3.5 million (approximately 87.7 million baht) from a warehouse in Mississauga. The confiscated items included more than 16,000 fake football jerseys and flags bearing counterfeit logos of FIFA, Nike, Adidas, and Puma, as well as two replica World Cup trophies. Two men were also arrested and charged in connection with the case.

Toronto is expected to welcome over 300,000 visitors during the World Cup, and will host all six matches, including Canada's opening game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12th.

The investigation into this case began with a complaint filed with the Toronto Police Department's World Cup Football Planning Unit last May, alleging that the suspect had supplied goods to various retailers and acted as a distributor of counterfeit products.
