Bangkok: A terrifying incident occurred late at night on Mittraphap Road in Pak Chong district when a car braked too hard, spinning out of control and colliding with a tour bus, sending both vehicles off the road. Over 40 people on board narrowly escaped severe harm.
According to Thai News Agency, dashcam footage reveals the accident took place last night on Mittraphap Road, kilometer 40, in Klang Dong Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, on the inbound lane to Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Klang Dong Police Station received a report of the incident and coordinated with local rescue units to provide assistance.
At the scene, a tour bus with a Ratchaburi license plate and a sedan with a Bangkok license plate were found in a roadside drainage ditch. The tour bus was severely damaged. Initial investigations revealed that the bus, a chartered vehicle carrying 41 passengers from Samut Songkhram Province, was en route to Ubon Ratchathani Province for the Candle Festival when the accident occurred. The journey was plagued by continuous rain, leading to slippery road conditions.
The driver of the sedan, identified as Mr. Chakraphat, explained that he was driving in the far right lane with the tour bus in the middle lane. While overtaking, he realized his speed was too high and attempted to slow down due to the slippery conditions. His braking caused the car to spin and collide with the tour bus, resulting in both vehicles going off the road.
The tour bus driver, Mr. Pinphong, recounted that he was in the middle lane when the sedan suddenly hit the right side of his vehicle with significant force, causing the bus to swerve off the road. The bus was damaged, and several passengers sustained injuries.
Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or fatalities reported in this accident.
