Nakhon Ratchasima:A car caught fire while stopped at a red light at an intersection near Sikhiu Hospital, with the 70-year-old owner narrowly escaping harm.
According to Thai News Agency, rescue workers from Phrom Tham Sikhiu were alerted by Sikhiu Police Station about a car fire near the entrance to Sikhiu Hospital on Chumkha Road. Upon their arrival, they found a silver sedan with local license plates engulfed in flames, particularly in the engine compartment. Attempts by Sikhiu Hospital staff to extinguish the blaze using fire extinguishers were unsuccessful due to strong winds and the fire's intensity.
A fire truck from the Sikhiu Municipality responded and took 15 minutes to put out the fire. The car's owner, Mr. Somchai, explained that while driving to pick up his girlfriend at Sikhiu Hospital, he noticed the brakes sticking and smoke emanating from the engine as he stopped at a red light. He managed to pull over to the roadside near the hospital entrance before the car caught fire, allowing him to escape uninjured. The Sikhiu Police Station is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
