Bangkok: Chaichana Dechdecho, a prominent member of the Democrat Party, recently campaigned in Din Daeng, urging district directors to maintain neutrality and refrain from using state mechanisms to support former Bangkok City administrators or specific candidates. The campaign was part of an effort to secure a City Council seat for the Democrat Party in Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaichana, who serves as both a party-list MP and deputy leader of the Democrat Party, visited the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Din Daeng. His visit aimed to rally support for Ms. Chantima Sittisurat, running for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMA) in the Din Daeng district, and Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party's candidate for Bangkok Governor.
During his campaign, Mr. Chaichana emphasized the importance of a fair and interference-free election process. He appealed to all district directors to remain impartial, urging them not to leverage their authority or government mechanisms for the political gain of any group. He underscored that any misuse of power could undermine public trust and compromise the election's fairness and integrity.
Mr. Chaichana further warned election management officials against using their positions or state power to aid any former BMA executive or specific BMA councilor candidate. He noted that such actions could jeopardize the public's confidence in the electoral process. The Democrat Party has pledged to vigilantly monitor the situation and investigate any incidents that might compromise electoral fairness, ensuring that citizens can exercise their rights under equitable conditions.
