Bangkok: Chaiwat Limlikit-aksorn, once celebrated as a dedicated civil servant committed to forest conservation, has been dismissed from his position as the director of the National Park Office. This decision was made by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment amid accusations of corruption related to a construction project at the Kaeng Krachan National Park Protection Unit, specifically at the Huai Khom Krit point.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) found Mr. Limlikit-aksorn guilty of both criminal activities and serious disciplinary violations, leading to the most severe punishment within the civil service system-his dismissal. The case has drawn attention due to Mr. Limlikit-aksorn’s previous reputation as a staunch protector of the country’s natural resources.
The NACC’s findings highlight significant irregularities in the construction project, which were sufficient to hold Mr. Limlikit-aksorn accountable under legal and disciplinary frameworks. The Ministry’s decision underscores the commitment to uphold integrity and transparency within government operations, particularly in environmental conservation efforts.
